Washington Scholarships

Incoming first-year and transfer students from WUE-eligible Western states who are admitted to the University of New Mexico are automatically considered for the Western Undergraduate Exchange Plus program. Eligible students need a 3.0 GPA or 20 ACT (1030 SAT). WUE Plus reduces non-resident tuition to the New Mexico resident rate, with a value of up to $23,149 per year. The award is renewable for up to four years with 15 credits and a 2.5 GPA each fall and spring semester. No separate scholarship application is required, but applying by your admission deadline improves consideration.

Automatic WUE nursing award for incoming nonresident first-year students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents from a participating WUE state or territory, hold an unweighted GPA of 3.90 to 4.00, and are Pre-Nursing or Nursing majors. The scholarship covers 150% of resident tuition, saving about $16,339 per year for up to four years with full-time enrollment and a 3.00 renewal GPA. Construction Management, Radiological Science, alternative fee, and fully online majors are ineligible. Admission files must be complete by December 15 for fall.

Individual artists age 18 and older who are King County, Washington residents through project completion may apply once per year. Applicants must be sole creators or project leads; fiscal sponsors are not permitted for individuals. Grants range from $2,500 to $15,000 for publicly accessible art projects of any medium completed between July 2026 and July 2028. Equity Investment add-ons may apply for applicants outside Seattle or in Communities of Opportunity. Applications are due March 11 at 5:00 pm PT through apply.4culture.org. Required materials include five narrative questions, a project budget, venue information, and work samples under five minutes total. 4Culture is King County's cultural funding agency, using lodging-tax revenue to support artists and arts organizations across the county.

Early-identification scholarship for Washington community college students who demonstrate exceptional ability across academic fields and leadership and plan to transfer to UW Seattle. Scholars receive $5,000 toward their final community college year and, upon admission to Seattle, $12,000 per year for up to three years while enrolled full time. Students apply during February through early April roughly 1.5 years before their intended Seattle transfer term. The UW portion depends on successful admission and matriculation at the Seattle campus; Bothell and Tacoma are not eligible.

Women who are residents of East Jefferson County, Washington and have completed at least one year of prior undergraduate study (excluding Running Start or similar pre-graduation coursework) may apply for the UWF Elmira K. Beyer Scholarship of $11,000. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited four-year college, university, or graduate school. Selection is based on academic performance, financial need, and educational and professional goals. Payment is made directly to the college after enrollment; the award is void if the recipient does not enroll by the second term of the school year.

College juniors, seniors, or graduate students pursuing civil engineering, welding engineering, welding engineering technology, or a related discipline may apply for the Matsuo Bridge Company Ltd. of Japan Scholarship through the AWS Foundation. Applicants need a high school diploma, at least a 3.0 GPA, and enrollment at a school in the United States. Priority goes to residents of California, Texas, Oregon, or Washington. One award of up to $10,000 is listed annually (AWS national scholarship materials also describe a broader dollar range across related awards). Apply through the AWS Foundation scholarship portal by the national deadline. Matsuo Bridge is a leading Japanese fabricator of steel for bridges, buildings, and other structures, including major suspension-bridge projects.

Washington state accounting majors entering junior year or higher with at least a 2.5 GPA in accounting and overall who plan to become CPAs may apply through Kaleidoscope. Undergraduate and fifth-year winners receive $5,000; master's and PhD awards range from $5,000 to $10,000. Submit a resume, transcripts, three short essays, one professional recommendation, and the Major GPA Calculator worksheet by February 10, 2026.

Washington state residents applying to UW Seattle are automatically considered for the UW Presidential Scholarship with their admission application. To be eligible, students must be admitted for autumn quarter and complete a FAFSA. No separate scholarship application is required. The award is $10,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, for students showing exceptional leadership, community engagement, and promise.

Pride Foundation's scholarship program supports LGBTQ+ student leaders in the Northwest. Since 1993 it has awarded more than $10 million to over 2,600 students, and one application enters students into consideration for more than 60 scholarship funds. In the 2025 cycle the minimum total award was $7,500 and the average award was $8,670. Applicants must identify as LGBTQ+ or questioning and be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington (current resident, or lived in one of these states for at least a year within the last five years); they may study elsewhere. Any post-secondary path qualifies, including community college, four-year college, certificate and vocational/technical programs, and graduate or professional school. Citizenship is not checked. The application opens in October and closes in early January, with decisions in June.

Kids' Chance of Washington provides need-based awards of $500 to $6,000 per year to spouses and children of Washington workers who died or became permanently unable to return to work because of an on-the-job injury. Funding may support accredited university, community-college, technical, vocational, apprenticeship, and Running Start costs.
