TOK and Extended Essay
How IB Diploma points add up
Each of the six subjects receives a grade from 1 to 7, producing up to 42 subject points. TOK and the Extended Essay can contribute up to 3 additional core points.
The calculator keeps HL and SL separate because the diploma conditions include minimum point totals for each level.
What the condition check means
A total of 24 points is only one part of the diploma result. Low individual grades or an E in TOK or the Extended Essay can still prevent the diploma from being awarded.
Use the checklist to spot a possible issue, then confirm the result with your IB coordinator.
