CSEC Grade Calculator

Combine CSEC papers and SBA using your subject's component weights, then apply the boundaries you were given.

Weights: 100%

Grade boundaries

CXC does not publicize universal grade boundaries. Enter a teacher-supplied percentage estimate if available; otherwise use the weighted score only.

Use your CSEC subject syllabus

Paper and SBA weights vary by subject. Private candidates may take an alternative paper instead of submitting an SBA, so their component setup can also differ.

CSEC overall and profile grades

The overall result uses Roman numerals I through VI. CXC also reports profile grades that describe performance in particular skill areas.

Common questions

How are CSEC grades reported?

CSEC uses overall Grades I through VI and profile grades A through F. Grades I through III are commonly used for matriculation at participating tertiary institutions.

Does SBA count toward a CSEC grade?

It does in subjects with a School-Based Assessment component. The exact weighting depends on the syllabus and candidate type.

What percentage is a CSEC Grade I?

CXC does not publish one universal fixed percentage conversion for every subject and session. Use boundaries supplied by your teacher or a subject-specific source.

Can private candidates use this calculator?

Yes, but replace the components and weights with the alternative-paper structure used for your subject if you do not submit an SBA.
