Trade School Scholarships

Students with strong academics, meaningful community service, and financial need who plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school may apply for the Chick-fil-A Community Scholars program. At least thirteen recipients receive $25,000 scholarships annually for tuition, fees, books, and other education-related expenses. Recipients also participate in a one-year leadership and mentoring program. Submit a completed application with transcript, detailed answers about your achievements and service, and a recommender's recommendation before the deadline.

Chick-fil-A restaurant team members across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico who are enrolled or planning enrollment at an accredited post-secondary institution may apply. Leadership, service, and academic commitment factor into selection. Award tiers include $1,000, $2,500, and a $25,000 True Inspiration Scholarship; applicants not selected for the top tier are considered for lower amounts, and each team member may receive only one award per cycle. Scholarships are paid in advance and may be used at any accredited institution. Apply by October 21.

Texas residents in Aransas, Bee, Goliad, Karnes, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, or Victoria counties who attended high school or were homeschooled in those counties and demonstrate challenging family circumstances, financial need, and academic success may apply. College or university awards reach up to $16,000. Trade or technical school awards reach up to $10,000. Applicants must attend accredited Texas institutions. The Dennis Henneke Foundation honors Dennis Henneke's spirit of mentoring and helping others pursue education despite hardship.

Legal U.S. residents who have lived in Alaska for at least two of the past three years and have no felony convictions may apply for Alaska Airmen spring aviation scholarships. Categories include piloting, maintenance, air traffic control, airport management, and other aviation pursuits. Scholarships are worth up to $10,000. The number of awards varies. High school seniors should include acceptance letters from aviation schools or recommendation letters from a certified flight instructor. Submit the spring application between January 1 and March 3. The Alaska Airmen partner with aviation legends to support the next generation of aviators in Alaska's diverse aviation industry.

Dependents (children or spouses) of roadway workers killed or permanently disabled in work zone incidents may apply to the ATSS Foundation for post-high school education support. Awards are up to $10,000 per academic year. Recipients demonstrating strong volunteerism may receive an additional $1,000 Chuck Bailey Memorial award. Submit the application with documentation verifying eligibility and academic transcripts.

U.S. citizens ages 17 to 25 who are transition-aged or aging-out foster youth with proof of foster care experience, a high school diploma or GED, and plans to attend an accredited vocational, trade, or two-year college program in a high-demand trade field may apply. Foster Love and AVB BrandSource select ten scholars per cycle for awards of up to $10,000 over up to two years, plus career coaching and personal development support. Submit the application with proof of foster care, acceptance into an accredited program, a personal statement, and two recommendation letters. Applications close once all slots are filled.

Residents of the Grossmont Healthcare District for at least one year, or employees who have worked within district boundaries for at least two years, enrolled in healthcare-related technical training or degree programs may apply for the Health Tech Scholarship. Ten awards are granted with prizes up to $5,250. Applicants may apply to only one district scholarship program per year and can receive the award only once. Provide proof of registration in a current health technology course of instruction. Non-residents qualify if they have worked in the district for the required period.

Dependent children of actively employed Bechtel employees who are first-time, full-time undergraduate students at accredited two-year or four-year colleges, universities, or vocational or technical schools may apply for the Bechtel Global Scholars Program, administered by Scholarship America. Eligible dependents include natural or adopted children, stepchildren, children of registered domestic partnerships, or legal wards. Twenty-five $5,000 scholarships are awarded. About 70% go to STEM majors and 30% to other fields. Awards are not renewable and must be used within the next academic year. Financial need is not considered. Selection weighs academic performance, leadership, school and community activities, work experience, career goals, and an online appraisal.

U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent legal residents pursuing skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, welding, or HVAC, construction, or multi-site facility management may apply for Connex Foundation scholarships of up to $5,000. Applicants need a minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA, plans for full-time enrollment, demonstrated community service or work experience, and a submission video. Awards vary in number each year. The Connex Foundation promotes careers in skilled trades and the multi-site facilities industry.

Students pursuing postsecondary education in a construction-related field, or surviving children or spouses of construction workers who died in a work-related construction accident, may apply to the Construction Angels Scholarship Fund. Applicants must attend or plan to attend an eligible institution that requires a high school diploma or GED, such as an accredited four-year or two-year college, vocational-technical school, or construction training program. Scholarship amounts vary with fundraising. Funds may cover tuition, textbooks, materials, fees, and room and board. Recipients may reapply in later years if still eligible. About 50 awards are listed as available. Complete the application with required documentation and submit electronically or by mail postmarked by July 3. Construction Angels is a nonprofit that also provides emergency aid and grief counseling to families after construction workplace fatalities.
