About this scholarship

Maryland residents pursuing a postsecondary credential full-time or part-time at an eligible Maryland two-year or four-year college, university, or private career school may apply for a Senatorial Scholarship through their local state senator.

Award amounts vary. Scholarships are open to undergraduate and graduate students, including undocumented students eligible for in-state tuition, and may cover certificate or licensure programs at community colleges.

Contact your state senator for application instructions and deadlines. Complete the FAFSA or the Maryland Higher Education Commission One-App if ineligible for federal aid but eligible for in-state tuition, and submit required materials to your senator's office.

Recipients may use the award at an out-of-state school if their major is not offered at any Maryland institution and their legislator agrees.
