Nursing Scholarships

Doctoral students enrolled in good standing at an accredited U.S. or international university may apply for the NIH Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) to conduct dissertation research in the NIH Intramural Research Program while remaining enrolled at their degree-granting institution. Eligible degrees include PhD, DPhil, PharmD, DrPH, PsyD, MD/PhD, and DVM/PhD. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible international students (including J-1 pathways) may participate through individual or institutional partnerships. While at NIH, GPP students are paid on the NIH predoctoral IRTA stipend table based on research experience after the bachelor's degree. Annual stipends range from $46,100 for a first-year predoctoral fellow with up to one year of experience to $59,300 in later years. NIH also provides health insurance supplements, a $1,500 relocation benefit for new fellows, and professional development, advising, and well-being resources. There is no fixed application deadline; students arrive year round once they secure an NIH principal investigator willing to host their dissertation research and obtain permission from their university graduate program. Individual partnership applicants contact PIs directly and apply through the NIH Application Center. Institutional partnership students apply through specific university partner programs. GPP lets doctoral students combine university coursework with mentored intramural research at NIH institutes and centers across multiple campuses.

The Pikeville Medical Center and UPIKE Elliott School of Nursing Workforce Investment ADN Scholarship awards $24,700 per year for up to two years to Kentucky residents pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing at the University of Pikeville. Eligible applicants need a minimum ACT composite of 21, demonstrated financial need, and strong interest in future employment at Pikeville Medical Center. Recipients sign a service agreement matching one year of PMC employment per academic year funded. Selected students must maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA throughout enrollment. The Corewell Health West GVSU Nurse Scholars Program is a partnership grant for students admitted to the Kirkhof College of Nursing traditional or accelerated second-degree BSN programs at Grand Valley State University. Traditional BSN students receive $4,000 per semester for five semesters ($20,000 total); accelerated second-degree students receive $5,000 per semester for four semesters ($20,000 total). In exchange, recipients commit to two years of full-time registered nurse employment at a Corewell Health West Michigan inpatient facility after graduation and licensure. Students apply through GVSU's scholarship database, receive a dedicated RN coach, and must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Failure to complete the service obligation converts the grant to a repayable loan.

Automatic WUE nursing award for incoming nonresident first-year students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents from a participating WUE state or territory, hold an unweighted GPA of 3.90 to 4.00, and are Pre-Nursing or Nursing majors. The scholarship covers 150% of resident tuition, saving about $16,339 per year for up to four years with full-time enrollment and a 3.00 renewal GPA. Construction Management, Radiological Science, alternative fee, and fully online majors are ineligible. Admission files must be complete by December 15 for fall.

State-supported loan-to-scholarship program for bona fide Arkansas residents enrolled in accredited Arkansas graduate nursing programs leading to a master's or doctoral degree, including UAMS. Full-time students may receive up to $16,000 per academic year ($8,000 per fall and spring semester) or up to $50,000 over a doctoral program; part-time students may receive up to $8,000 per year. Loans convert to scholarship grants when service requirements are met. A separate AGNSLS application is required; postings appear twice yearly on the College of Nursing financial assistance site.

Stipend scholarship for licensed RNs enrolled full time in eligible UAMS College of Nursing DNP nurse practitioner tracks: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care, Family, Psychiatric-Mental Health, or Primary Care Pediatric NP. U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents eligible to work in the U.S. may apply during the open window from June 15 through August 24, 2026. First-year students receive $12,000 annually; second- and final-year students receive up to $15,000 annually. The application includes demographic data, HRSA disadvantaged-student information, Arkansas county of residence, GPA, and a 500-word essay on graduation plans.

The Accelerated Nursing Presidential Scholarship supports applicants admitted to Elms College's Accelerated Nursing Second Degree Program with outstanding academic records. The award is fifteen thousand dollars per academic year and automatically renews for the length of the accelerated nursing program while the student maintains continuous full-time enrollment and good academic standing. Elms evaluates admitted accelerated nursing applicants automatically. This scholarship applies specifically to the second-degree nursing pathway, not the traditional four-year nursing program.

The Presidential Academic Award is Oklahoma City University's highest automatic merit scholarship for incoming first-year students in Arts and Sciences, Business, or Nursing who have a recalculated high school GPA of 3.8 or higher. OCU evaluates every admission applicant automatically, so no separate scholarship form is required. Recipients must submit all admission documents by March 1, enroll full time with at least twelve credit hours per semester, and maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA to renew for up to seven consecutive semesters excluding summer terms.

The Judy Holly Sidbury Nursing Scholarship at Cape Fear Community College is a full-ride nursing award valued at $12,885 for an Associate Degree Nursing student recommended by CFCC nursing faculty and staff. It is administered through the CFCC Foundation alongside other donor-established nursing scholarships supporting students across CFCC's nursing continuum. Students apply through the CFCC Foundation general scholarship application, which matches eligible nursing students to available endowed and annual funds. Recipients must meet donor criteria and submit required thank-you correspondence to the Foundation.

The Accelerated Nursing Dean Scholarship is a merit award for students admitted to Elms College's Accelerated Nursing Second Degree Program. The award is twelve thousand dollars per academic year and renews automatically for the duration of the accelerated program when recipients maintain continuous full-time status and good academic standing. Eligible students are notified upon acceptance to the program. Award amounts for the accelerated nursing pathway range from twelve thousand to fifteen thousand dollars depending on academic profile.
