Wyoming Scholarships

Incoming first-year and transfer students from WUE-eligible Western states who are admitted to the University of New Mexico are automatically considered for the Western Undergraduate Exchange Plus program. Eligible students need a 3.0 GPA or 20 ACT (1030 SAT). WUE Plus reduces non-resident tuition to the New Mexico resident rate, with a value of up to $23,149 per year. The award is renewable for up to four years with 15 credits and a 2.5 GPA each fall and spring semester. No separate scholarship application is required, but applying by your admission deadline improves consideration.

Automatic WUE nursing award for incoming nonresident first-year students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents from a participating WUE state or territory, hold an unweighted GPA of 3.90 to 4.00, and are Pre-Nursing or Nursing majors. The scholarship covers 150% of resident tuition, saving about $16,339 per year for up to four years with full-time enrollment and a 3.00 renewal GPA. Construction Management, Radiological Science, alternative fee, and fully online majors are ineligible. Admission files must be complete by December 15 for fall.

The Wyoming D.A.R. Scholarship through WYCF supports Wyoming resident undergraduates attending any accredited institution in any field of study with at least a 2.0 GPA. Apply via the WYCF online grant portal when scholarships open October 1 and close in early March; applicants upload official transcripts and complete essay questions. WYCF distributes hundreds of scholarships annually across donor funds, notifying recipients by May 5 and disbursing awards directly to institutions.

The Cowboy Commitment is an annual renewing merit pledge for new first-time Wyoming resident students who are not transfers. Awards are tiered at six thousand five hundred, four thousand, two thousand, or one thousand dollars per year based on cumulative high school GPA and ACT or SAT scores, with a test-optional review path for students who do not submit scores. Recipients must be degree-seeking on the Laramie or Casper campus, confirm enrollment by May 1 for fall starts, and complete the WyoScholarships general application each year. The commitment renews up to eight semesters with a 3.0 UW cumulative GPA and continuous full-time enrollment.

The WY Transfer Commitment supports new first-time Wyoming resident transfer students pursuing their first bachelor's degree at the University of Wyoming. Awards of three thousand, two thousand, or one thousand dollars per year are based on cumulative transfer GPA calculated from prior college credits, and applicants must have at least twelve completed post-high-school transfer credits. Recipients must be degree-seeking on the Laramie or Casper campus, confirm enrollment by August 1 for fall entry, and complete the WyoScholarships general application annually. The commitment renews up to six semesters with a 3.0 UW cumulative GPA and continuous full-time enrollment.

High school seniors or college students in the Dairy MAX region who have ties to the dairy industry may apply for Dairy MAX academic scholarships. Eligible applicants live in Colorado, southwest Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, western Oklahoma, Texas, or Wyoming and are either a child of a dairy farmer, a child of a dairy farm employee at a checkoff-funding dairy, or an FFA or 4-H dairy show participant in junior or senior year of high school. Three $2,500 scholarships are awarded. Selection weighs scholastic achievement, leadership, and agricultural involvement. Applications are available on the sponsor site. Dairy MAX supports students continuing their education in agriculture across its multi-state territory.

Female NSPS student members enrolled in two- or four-year surveying or related degree programs who are legal residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming may apply for the $2,000 Cady McDonnell Memorial Scholarship, awarded in odd-numbered years only. One award is available. Submit an application, proof of residency, transcripts, three recommendations, and a personal letter through the NSPS Foundation scholarship application.

Wyoming's Tomorrow Scholarship is a state-funded award for Wyoming resident adults age twenty-four or older enrolling at the University of Wyoming to pursue a degree or certificate. Recipients with unmet financial need who complete the FAFSA may receive up to one thousand eight hundred dollars per semester when enrolled in twelve or more credits, for up to four full-time semesters or seven thousand two hundred dollars total. Applicants must have been Wyoming residents for at least one year immediately before applying or three total years, register with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, and apply in WyoScholarships. Recipients cannot simultaneously receive the Hathaway Scholarship.

Wyoming individual artists age 18 or older who live in Wyoming as their permanent residence at least 10 months per year may apply. Full-time students pursuing high school, college, or university art-related degrees are ineligible. Each artist may receive one grant every other fiscal year. Grants provide up to $1,000 for capacity-building expenses such as equipment, professional services, marketing, memberships, residencies, conferences, or website development. Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the proposed project start date. Starting May 2026, three annual cycles run May 1-June 1, August 1-September 1, and January 1-February 1 for projects in corresponding start windows. FY26 applications were closed when checked; Round 2 opens August 1, 2026. The Wyoming Arts Council administers this program as the state's active individual artist grant while larger Visual, Performing, and Creative Writing fellowships ($5,000) remain on funding hiatus since May 2025.

The Trustees' Scholars Award is the University of Wyoming's premier scholarship for Wyoming high school seniors, typically averaging a 3.97 unweighted GPA and ACT composite of 32. Wyoming seniors must apply for admission, submit transcripts and test scores, and be admitted by December 1; semifinalists submit essays, a resume, and counselor certification, then complete online interviews in January. One hundred recipients receive a four-year package covering tuition up to eighteen credits per semester, mandatory fees, and standard double room and board when living on campus. Recipients must accept in WyoScholarships and confirm enrollment by May 1 and maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA with full-time enrollment.
