New Jersey Scholarships

The High School Leadership Award Scholarship provides $20,000 over four years to first-year Widener undergraduates from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware who received a Widener High School Leadership Award. Students are nominated by their high school principal or administrator rather than applying directly. Award recipients who enroll at Widener automatically receive the scholarship and join the Apogee Scholars Program managed by the Office of Student Engagement. The program recognizes regional high school juniors and seniors for leadership potential. Scholarship funds apply to tuition for full-time undergraduate day students during their first eight semesters at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Need-based New Jersey residents enrolled full time as undergraduates at approved in-state colleges and universities may receive Tuition Aid Grant awards. Awards of up to $14,404 per year vary by institution type, enrollment status, and demonstrated financial need. Complete the FAFSA or New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application and submit required documentation by September 15 for the upcoming academic year. TAG has provided need-based tuition assistance to New Jersey students since 1978, covering a substantial portion of tuition at public, private, two-year, and four-year institutions.

Bold.org exclusive award for BIPOC first-generation undergraduate students who are New Jersey residents pursuing a four-year degree with at least a 3.5 GPA. One $13,500 winner selected for ambition, drive, and impact. Requires a 400–600 word essay on challenges, initiative, and educational goals; AI-generated writing is discouraged. Practicing New Jersey artists apply directly for anonymous peer-reviewed fellowships in rotating disciplines. FY27 categories included choreography, crafts, music composition, photography, playwriting/screenwriting, poetry, and sculpture. Applicants must be New Jersey residents. Fellowship amounts vary by discipline and have historically ranged from about $8,000 to $12,000 per award. In February 2026, 198 artists received $2 million in fellowships. Awards are unrestricted and support pursuit of artistic goals. FY27 applications opened June 2, 2026 with a final deadline of July 2, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Disciplines rotate annually with a July application window. The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is the state's primary funder of individual artist fellowships.

New Jersey residents who are undergraduate juniors or seniors, or graduate students, with at least 15 completed undergraduate credits and a 3.3 or higher GPA may apply for Land Conservancy of New Jersey scholarships while pursuing environmental science, conservation, natural resource management, or related fields at an accredited college or university. The conservancy awards ten scholarships of $10,000 each, paid directly to the recipient's institution. Submit a resume, a 500-word essay, an official transcript, and two letters of recommendation by the April 1 deadline. For decades the Land Conservancy has supported New Jersey students preparing for careers protecting natural resources, with a selection process committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

U.S. citizens pursuing campus-based study in the 2027-2028 academic year may apply to one or more stand-alone UNICO Foundation scholarships if they meet each fund's criteria. Most require Italian descent; several funds are open to all ethnicities. Award sizes vary by named fund, from about $1,000 to $10,000, covering high school seniors, undergraduates, graduate entrants, nursing, medical school, study abroad in Italy, and field-specific awards. Online applications are due March 15, 2027 for the 2027-2028 academic year. Applicants generally must reside in or hold chapter sponsorship from listed states (California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, or Wisconsin), with limited exceptions. UNICO National is an Italian-American service organization whose foundation promotes education, culture, and charitable projects nationwide.

Undergraduate students with at least one year of college completed, or graduate students, at accredited U.S. institutions whose daily lives are guided by spiritual values may apply. Preference goes to candidates residing in or attending schools in Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $7,000 and may be renewed for subsequent years. Apply with three autobiographical essays, three letters of recommendation, an official transcript, and an in-person interview. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. Albert and Toni Roothbert established the Fund to support students whose actions reflect strong moral and spiritual values.

Undergraduate students of Armenian descent who are permanent residents of New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut and attend a U.S. college full time may apply. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing. Awards range from $1,000 to $6,000 per academic year through the Hazaros Tabakoğlu, Hagop/Arousiag/Arpy Kashmanian, and Anni P. Nalbandian Memorial funds. Direct application through The New York Community Trust; the annual spring cycle recurs each year (2025 cycle closed). Contact the scholarships administrator for the next opening. The New York Community Trust has administered Armenian heritage scholarships since 1996.

New Jersey residents who are high school seniors, graduates, or current undergraduates with a 2.5+ GPA, planning full-time undergraduate study in a forestry-related major (forest management, urban forestry, environmental policy, wildlife ecology, and related fields) may apply. Up to seven non-renewable $5,000 awards are granted. Financial need must be demonstrated. Selection also considers academics, leadership, work experience, career goals in forestry, and an essay on how the chosen major impacts forestry. The program is administered by Scholarship America for the Midland Trust Company as trustee of the Marion E. McRae Trust.

New Jersey residents (at least 12 consecutive months, or meeting alternative residency rules such as graduating from a New Jersey high school) enrolled in an approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP) while pursuing a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS), placed in a New Jersey public or eligible private school for full-time clinical practice, and in good academic standing may receive the HESAA Student Teacher Scholarship (Clinical Intern Stipend). The award provides up to $4,500 for living expenses during one academic semester of full-time clinical practice. Clinical interns do not submit an individual application. If eligible, your EPP field director submits your name on a roster to HESAA after the institution's add/drop deadline for the fall or spring term. HESAA funds the stipend so educator-preparation students can complete required practical training in New Jersey schools.
