Scholarships at Concordia University

Admitted Concordia PhD students supervised by a Volt-Age professor may be considered. The Denis Faubert Doctoral Fellowship is awarded to the Volt-Age doctoral applicant with the highest GPA whose research most closely aligns with defence, energy, and aerospace innovation. The fellowship provides $35,000 per year for four years under the Volt-Age Doctoral Fellowship framework. Nomination follows the Volt-Age project selection process.

Black Canadian citizens or permanent residents entering a Concordia PhD program who are nominated for a Concordia University Doctoral Graduate Fellowship within their faculty's quota. Recipients must maintain full-time standing and register with the NouLA Centre. If no Canadian candidates are presented, eligibility may extend to Black U.S. or international students who hold a master's degree from Canada. Up to 10 awards of $30,000-$35,000 per year for four years (up to $35,000). The admission application is integrated with award consideration; contact your program or faculty for nomination details.

Concordia MSc students admitted and supervised by a professor on a Volt-Age Living Lab or Impact Project advancing sustainable electrification may receive this fellowship. Apply through Volt-Age project openings. The supervising professor nominates selected candidates. The award is $22,000 per year for two years. Accepting the fellowship requires declining most other awards for the same period, except listed exceptions such as Tri-Agency, FRQ, Mitacs, and TAships.

Concordia Fine Arts undergraduates in third or fourth year, and graduate students in the second year of a program (including INDI and HUMA), may propose an internship with a Greater Montreal non-profit arts organization. Each award is $5,000, with up to 40 awards per year across Fine Arts departments and eligible graduate programs. Develop a project with a host organization, then apply through the Fine Arts internship award process by the November 15 or March 15 deadline for your project timeline.

U.S. and international Concordia graduate students in master's research or doctoral programs who take an approved parental leave after completing at least one full-time term, and who receive an internal award, may apply for the Parental-Leave Supplement Award. The supplement equals 55% of current internal funding, up to $5,000, awarded first come, first served after parental leave is approved. There is no set deadline. First Nations, Inuit, and Métis undergraduates in Concordia's Faculty of Fine Arts (enrolled in at least one Fine Arts course) may apply for Indigenous student-led projects such as exhibitions, screenings, performances, conferences, travel to present work, or community events. Proof of identity may be requested. Four grants of $1,000 are available each fiscal year on a first-come, first-awarded basis. Submit a single PDF with a cover page, 450-500 word project description, and budget to tricia.middleton@concordia.ca.
