Concordia Journalism letter of intent
Concordia's Journalism major requires a Journalism Dossier after the university application. Its letter introduces the applicant, explains why they want to study journalism, and discusses one work of journalism they consider important or inspiring. Published examples can be local or international and can use print, audio, video, photography, or multimedia. Prior journalism work is optional, not a condition for applying.

What to prepare
- 1Explain what made you interested in reporting or storytelling with a specific observation or experience.
- 2Choose one actual work of journalism and examine what its reporting, form, or community impact taught you.
- 3Connect that example to the kind of journalist you want to become without treating the optional portfolio as required evidence.
How to approach the writing
- Keep the letter near two double-spaced pages and use English, as the department instructs.
- Complete the correct first-stage university or internal-transfer route before submitting the separate Journalism Dossier.
Before you submit
The department currently lists February 1 for international applicants and March 1 for applicants in Canada, without labeling a 2027 intake. Check the live admission year, your applicant category, and Student Centre To Do List before submission.
