Concordia Science Journalism minor letter of intent
The Science Journalism minor has a separate letter from Concordia's Journalism major. New applicants first apply to the university; current students use the department's internal form. All applicants then write 500 words introducing themselves, naming their current or intended Concordia program, and explaining their interest in science journalism and their academic or professional direction.

What to prepare
- 1Name the Concordia program you are in or applying to, so the reader can see the disciplinary perspective you would bring.
- 2Describe a science or public-knowledge question you want to communicate and why accurate reporting on it matters.
- 3Connect that interest to your study or work goals rather than borrowing the Journalism major's different media-analysis prompt.
How to approach the writing
- Draft within 500 words, double-space the letter, and write it in English.
- Use the correct first-stage route for a new or current Concordia student, then upload the additional document through the instructed portal.
Before you submit
Concordia lists February 1 for international students and March 1 for students from Canada, but this page does not label a 2027 cycle. Verify the live minor application and document deadline for your category.
