Concordia Film Animation letter of intent
Concordia's Film Animation letter asks why the applicant wants a Fine Arts based animation education and how their artistic practice could develop toward independent animation. It accompanies an art portfolio rather than replacing one.

500–650 word letter of intent and a 15–30 item art portfolio
What to prepare
- 1Explain your academic path and why animation is your primary artistic medium.
- 2Distinguish your interest in a Fine Arts program from an industry training route using your own work and goals.
- 3Describe past artistic development and briefly sketch a film idea or subject you might explore in the program.
How to approach the writing
- Connect the letter's claims to specific pieces in the 15–30 item portfolio.
- If relevant to the Grant Munro scholarship, include the requested brief autobiographical context and how support would affect your studies.
Before you submit
Concordia says the Fall 2027 SlideRoom portal opens in October and portfolio and letter submissions close March 1. Applicants to both cinema majors need separate letters.
