Concordia Electroacoustic Studies portfolio descriptions
Concordia lists a letter of intent, music admissions package, and electroacoustic portfolio for its BFA. For each of three to five compositions or sound-design works, the music department asks for written context: the work's intention, tools, source sounds, process, recordings, and the applicant's role in any collaboration. The public pages do not give a universal letter prompt or length.

What to prepare
- 1Describe the purpose and listening context of each work, including its title and duration, so the committee can understand your creative choices.
- 2Name the hardware, software, source sounds, and transformations you used; identify sounds you recorded yourself.
- 3Credit collaborators and state your own role in each piece rather than implying that every part of a group work was yours.
How to approach the writing
- Select three to five electroacoustic or sound-design pieces and write a distinct description for each in the admissions form.
- Treat the listed letter of intent as a separate requirement; read the current department package for its actual prompt before drafting it.
Before you submit
Concordia lists March 1 for the portfolio and requires a university application first, but its public pages do not label the next intake year or letter length. Confirm the current Music Admissions Package and upload instructions before submitting.
