Concordia Film Production letter of intent
Film Production applicants explain why cinema is their chosen medium, name artists who influenced their practice, and describe a project they might pursue. The letter sits beside a small moving-image portfolio, with each submitted work limited to five minutes.

500–650 word letter of intent and one or two short moving-image works
What to prepare
- 1Explain why you are applying to Concordia's School of Cinema and why moving images matter to your practice.
- 2Discuss specific artists or works that influenced a choice in your own filmmaking.
- 3Connect past achievements and future goals to a film idea or subject you would explore in the program.
How to approach the writing
- Use the letter to add context to your one or two films, including your principal creative role.
- Avoid treating a script or project treatment as the portfolio; Concordia asks for actual moving-image work.
Before you submit
The Fall 2027 SlideRoom portal is expected to open in October, with final submissions due March 1. Applicants to both cinema majors need an individual letter for each.
