Vermont Creation Grants
Up to $10,000Vermont resident artists and artist groups, including both established and emerging artists, may apply for competitive creation funding. Individual artists and groups create new work in any discipline through panel-reviewed proposals. Standard awards are $5,000 flat grants, with a $10,000 option for select performing arts groups in dance, theater, or multidisciplinary work. Funds may compensate artist time, materials, equipment rental, or space for the creation process during the September through August grant period. Applications are due April 5 at 11:59 p.m. through the SlideRoom grant portal. FY27 closed April 5, 2026; FY28 reopens in 2027. Funding notification arrives in late August. Vermont Arts Council is the state arts agency, with Creation Grants supported by the Vermont Community Foundation Arts Endowment Fund and private donors.
Roothbert Fund Scholarships
Up to $7,000Undergraduate students with at least one year of college completed, or graduate students, at accredited U.S. institutions whose daily lives are guided by spiritual values may apply. Preference goes to candidates residing in or attending schools in Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $7,000 and may be renewed for subsequent years. Apply with three autobiographical essays, three letters of recommendation, an official transcript, and an in-person interview. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. Albert and Toni Roothbert established the Fund to support students whose actions reflect strong moral and spiritual values.
Samara Fund Scholarship
Up to $5,000Vermont high school seniors who self-identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and are committed to positive change for LGBTQ+ communities may apply through VSAC. Applicants must be Vermont residents and U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens per VSAC rules, planning enrollment at a four-year college, career/technical college, or vocational program in the U.S. or Canada. Priority goes to BIPOC, low-income students, and those who faced education barriers related to gender or sexuality. Up to $5,000 per student; VSAC estimates roughly 15 awards from ~129 applicants annually. Apply via the VSAC Unified Scholarship Application (MyVSAC) with FAFSA, general essay, Samara-specific essay (500+ words on identity and community support), and two recommendation letters including a Samara-focused letter. Deadline February 11 each year. The Samara Fund endowment at the Vermont Community Foundation funds this competitive award administered by VSAC.
Dr. Marie E. Zakrzewski Medical Scholarships
$3,500U.S. citizens or permanent residents of Polish descent who are women entering the first, second, or third year of an M.D. program at an accredited U.S. medical school may apply. First preference goes to Massachusetts residents, then to New England applicants if no Massachusetts candidates qualify. The award is a non-renewable $3,500 scholarship. There is a $40 application fee.
