Scholarships at University of Victoria

University of Victoria Peter B. Gustavson School of Business Bachelor of Commerce students specializing in International Business (including graduating students) may receive one or more Henry & Marian Thiel International Business Awards of at least $1,500 each. Submit a maximum 500-word essay to bcomasst@uvic.ca by July 15 outlining why you are pursuing the International Business specialization, career goals, accomplishments that show interest in international business, and financial need. Recipients are approved by the Senate Committee on Awards on the recommendation of the School.

Third- or fourth-year School of Nursing students at the University of Victoria may receive this bursary. One award of $1,000 is available through UVic's general bursary application in Online tools.

For White Spot Limited employees and sons or daughters of employees who have served with White Spot for at least one year by the application deadline. Two $500 bursaries are offered. Open to students in a full program of studies at UBC, the University of Victoria, Vancouver Island University, Simon Fraser University, or the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Candidates must have achieved an average of at least 65% in their previous year of study. Awards are made in consultation with the company.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are graduate students in the University of Victoria Department of Computer Science, Department of Physics, or Faculty of Engineering and demonstrate financial need while receiving maximum government student loans may apply. One or more bursaries with varying amounts are available. Apply through Student Awards by June 1 for summer or October 15 for winter.

University of Victoria students in the Distance Education Bachelor of Social Work program who face severe financial difficulties returning to full- or part-time studies may be considered. One or more bursaries are awarded; value varies. Apply through the UVic general bursary application (winter deadline October 15; summer deadline June 1).

Open to students in the Department of Visual Arts. One or more bursaries are offered; the amount varies. Application deadlines are June 1 (summer) and October 15 (winter).

University of Victoria undergraduate or graduate female students registered in pre-medicine disciplines (biochemistry and microbiology, biology, or chemistry) may apply for the Edythe Hembroff-Schleicher Scholarships. Preference is given to students who have stated an intention to continue to medical school. One or more scholarships are awarded; the value varies.

University of Victoria students registered in at least one 200-level Gender Studies (GNDR) course who have also completed at least one other gender studies course at UVic may be considered for this bursary. The award amount varies. Students are considered through the general bursary application.

University of Victoria bursaries for third- and fourth-year students continuing at UVic, or students entering the post-degree program. Preference is given to Roman Catholic students. One or more bursaries; value varies. Apply through Online tools for Student Awards and Financial Aid. Deadlines are June 1 for summer session and October 15 for winter session.

Students entering year two or three of an honours or major program in the Departments of Biochemistry and Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, or Physics and Astronomy may apply. One or more bursaries are awarded annually; the value and number of awards vary.
