UVic MPH letter of intent
UVic's online Master of Public Health reviews a letter of intent alongside grades, references, and professional or community experience. The letter has five requested elements, including the chosen program and focus, the purpose of the degree, and whether the applicant plans to study full time or part time. It is a graduate MPH requirement, separate from the BA in Public Health letter.

What to prepare
- 1State your MPH program choice and preferred area of focus, then explain the public health problem or practice that motivates you.
- 2Connect relevant experience to what you want to learn and to a plausible career or community goal.
- 3Say whether you plan full-time or part-time study and account for how the online program fits that plan.
How to approach the writing
- Use the four-page maximum CV for the full record of positions, service, and awards; let the letter explain the decisions behind the MPH choice.
- Keep the letter to two double-spaced pages with standard 12-point type and one-inch margins.
Before you submit
The MPH application is due January 31 for the following September. UVic requires application documents at submission and allows two additional weeks for outstanding referee reports. Check the statistics prerequisite and current My UVic instructions before applying.
