UVic Theatre one-page essay
UVic Theatre Major applicants submit a supplemental one-page essay about the life experiences that led them to theatre and how theatre helped them handle those experiences. A résumé is also required; examples of acting, design, production, or other creative work can be added but are optional.

What to prepare
- 1Choose one or two experiences that actually shaped your relationship with theatre, rather than retelling your full life history.
- 2Describe how making or encountering theatre helped you respond to those experiences, with a concrete action or change in perspective.
- 3Use the résumé for credits, training, and activities so the essay has room for reflection that a list cannot show.
How to approach the writing
- Keep the essay to one page and answer both parts of the published question. The departmental page still labels that question as updated in June 2022, so confirm it in the live application.
- Upload required writing and résumé through the UVic application system; submit optional portfolio examples only when they add useful evidence.
Before you submit
UVic's current undergraduate Theatre listing gives January 31 for supporting documents. Its departmental page also mentions an annual May 1 application deadline, so distinguish the application from the earlier document deadline and confirm the 2027 dates in your own checklist.
