UVic Indigenous supplemental personal statement
UVic offers an optional supplemental admission route for eligible First Nations, Métis, and Inuit applicants. The personal statement lets applicants explain their educational path and strengths in their own terms, alongside two references.

What to prepare
- 1Introduce and locate yourself only to the extent you are comfortable sharing, including community or place if meaningful to you.
- 2Connect experiences and achievements to your decision to pursue post-secondary education.
- 3Explain your academic goals, program choice, and plan to succeed at UVic.
How to approach the writing
- UVic sets no single right way to self-locate and permits applicants to share as much or as little as they wish.
- Choose referees who can speak to academic potential; one should be an academic or professional source.
Before you submit
Apply through UVic's standard process, self-identify, then contact your admission assistant after the introductory email to arrange the supplement. Check your application checklist for the submission route.
