Indiana Scholarships

Indiana residents who are participating members of an Independent Christian Church or Church of Christ and pursuing full-time vocations in Christian ministry may apply for undergraduate or graduate scholarships from the Alexander Christian Foundation. The foundation awards $4,000 scholarships; the number of recipients varies with annual funding. Undergraduate applicants need a 3.0 GPA, must attend a qualifying Christian college full-time (at least 12 credit hours), and plan to serve in a church or mission setting. Graduate applicants must hold an A.B. or B.S. degree and attend an approved seminary full-time. Applications are available from December through March 1.

Residents of Dearborn or Ohio counties in Indiana pursuing an undergraduate LPN or RN degree at an accredited institution may apply through the Dearborn Community Foundation. Scholarships provide up to $5,000 in total funding to support local nursing education needs. Selection weighs dedication to nursing, relevant healthcare experience, and academic performance in life sciences. Students may reapply in consecutive years if still eligible. The fund was created by Clifford and Gladys Ellerbrook Ender to ensure nursing care for local residents.

Indiana resident high school seniors applying for admission to any of the seven Indiana University campuses may be nominated for the Adam W. Herbert Presidential Scholars Program, with preference given to National Merit Scholars with leadership experience. Scholarship amounts vary by campus and are renewable for four years. A minimum of 30 incoming freshmen are selected annually. Submit your IU admissions application by November 1. Your campus will nominate candidates based on your application. No separate scholarship application is required. The program is funded by the Lilly Endowment.

Incoming first-year Indiana residents of the highest academic quality who submit a complete IU Bloomington admission application by November 1 are automatically considered for the Indiana Excellence Scholarship (formerly the Provost's Scholarship). Award amounts vary. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years. IU is test-optional. Recipients are notified by email between mid-December and early February. No separate scholarship application is needed beyond your admission application.

U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores under age 20 and residing in eligible states or the District of Columbia may apply. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 GPA (high school seniors) or 2.75 GPA (college students), plus demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and financial need. Award amounts vary based on need and may renew for up to four academic years. Complete the application with details on honors, leadership, community service, financial need, and future goals. Funds must be used at an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Student-athletes in intercollegiate sports and exclusively online students are ineligible. The Jimmy Rane Foundation has awarded hundreds of scholarships to help deserving students pursue college educations.
