Scholarships at McMaster University

Outstanding PhD candidates nominated by McMaster University faculty supervisors may receive the Canada Impact + Research Training Awards (CIRTA) Doctoral scholarship. It is open to international researchers abroad or returning Canadians without a current Canadian institutional affiliation, and is not open to students already at a Canadian institution. The scholarship is $40,000 per year for up to three years. Graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence, are enrolled in a Social Sciences program at McMaster, and are registered with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) are eligible for this award. Preference goes to students in the Social Work program. The award is $2,500. It is awarded by the School of Graduate Studies. Apply through AwardSpring when matched. Established in 2022 by Kim Nolan (Class of 2004 and 2009) and Tim Nolan (Class of 1986 and 2004).

Undergraduate students enrolled in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University who demonstrate financial need. The bursary is $1,800. Apply through McMaster AwardSpring with the Medicine bursary application. Established in 2012 by the MD Class of 1987 to commemorate their 25th anniversary.

Undergraduate students enrolled in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University who demonstrate financial need may apply for The M.D. Class of 1992 Bursary. The bursary is $600. Apply through AwardSpring with Medicine bursaries when the competition is open. Established in 2012 by the M.D. Class of 1992 to commemorate their 20th anniversary.
