Arkansas Scholarships

Residents of Arkansas, Louisiana, or Oklahoma diagnosed with end-stage renal disease who are currently on dialysis or are kidney transplant recipients and demonstrate financial need may apply. One scholarship of up to $5,000 per academic year covers tuition at higher-education or vocational programs. Funding may renew for one additional year based on academic performance and fund availability. Submit a statement of purpose, a reference from a nephrology professional, and the application. Funds are paid directly to the educational institution.

Graduating high school seniors who are Saline County, Arkansas residents and plan to pursue a four-year degree in a field related to serving youth may apply for the Junior Auxiliary of Saline County Traditional Scholarship. One $3,000 one-time award is paid directly to the recipient's school after proof of registration. Eligible majors include education, psychology, sociology, pediatrics, coaching, and similar youth-serving fields. Complete the online application, attach a letter of recommendation from a teacher, pastor, or other non-family reference, and submit an official transcript with ACT or other test scores.

Arkansas residents pursuing a medicine-related undergraduate or graduate degree at an Arkansas institution who commit to practicing in rural or underserved areas of the state may apply. The award is $2,500, paid directly to the student for tuition, books, supplies, or required technology. Submit an online application with essay responses and one letter of recommendation. Dr. Rhys Branman established this scholarship to encourage medical students to serve rural Arkansas communities.

U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores under age 20 and residing in eligible states or the District of Columbia may apply. Applicants need a minimum 3.0 GPA (high school seniors) or 2.75 GPA (college students), plus demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and financial need. Award amounts vary based on need and may renew for up to four academic years. Complete the application with details on honors, leadership, community service, financial need, and future goals. Funds must be used at an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Student-athletes in intercollegiate sports and exclusively online students are ineligible. The Jimmy Rane Foundation has awarded hundreds of scholarships to help deserving students pursue college educations.

Arkansas residents who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are dependent children or spouses of Arkansas law enforcement officers, firefighters, foresters, correctional officers, certain Highway and Transportation or Community Punishment Department employees, or teachers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty may receive the Law Enforcement Officers' (LEO) Dependents Scholarship through the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. The award waives tuition, fees, and room at any public Arkansas college, university, or technical institute. It is granted for one academic year and may renew annually for up to eight semesters if the student maintains at least a 2.0 GPA and satisfactory progress toward a degree.
