Scholarships at University of Manitoba

Indigenous high school graduates across Canada entering any direct-entry program at the University of Manitoba who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential and academic giftedness, including a minimum 90 percent average on eligible courses, plus community involvement. Three awards valued at $16,000 each ($4,000 per year for four years). Complete applications and all required documentation, including reference letters through the Undergraduate Application portal, by December 1 each year. The BMO Financial Group Indigenous Leader of Tomorrow scholarship program supports exceptional Indigenous high school graduates within the University of Manitoba community.

University of Manitoba students with financial need who are entering the final year of the Integrated Bachelor of Education degree program may apply. One bursary of $3,000 is awarded annually. Complete the Special Awards for High Need Students application form.

Open to entering or returning students with financial need who are Manitoba residents of Métis status. Applicants must provide a letter from the Louis Riel Institute confirming membership with the Manitoba Métis Federation, and complete the Special Awards for High Need Students and Louis Riel Bursary application forms. Bursaries of $1,500.

Refugees to Canada with English as an additional language as assessed by the University of Manitoba English Language Centre, registered in the Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) for the upcoming term, with demonstrated financial need on the ELC bursary application as approved by Financial Aid and Awards. Proof of refugee status is required. Each term (three times a year), one or more bursaries up to but not exceeding full tuition for one full term. Submit the Refugee Bursary application form and required documentation to elc@umanitoba.ca by the posted term deadline (April 1 for May term, August 1 for September term, December 1 for January term).
