Manitoba Architecture Master Preparation statement of intent
Manitoba's Environmental Design Architecture Master Preparation Option is an undergraduate entry route for applicants who already hold a first degree and want to prepare for a later Master of Architecture application. It asks for a statement of intent about an interest in architecture, a portfolio, CV, and two references; it is not a direct high-school admission essay.

Statement of intent up to 750 words, submitted separately from a creative portfolio and CV
What to prepare
- 1Start with an experience or spatial question that led you toward architecture rather than repeating the chronology in your CV.
- 2Explore what architecture could contribute to culture and what you hope to gain from architectural study.
- 3Use one or two places or spatial memories to make your interests tangible; Manitoba offers examples of questions, not a mandatory six-question essay.
How to approach the writing
- Keep the statement within 750 words in at least 12-point type, and let the portfolio carry visual evidence of design ability.
- Check which of the two AMP streams fits your prior degree and ask the program advisor if the distinction is unclear.
Before you submit
The published 2026–27 bulletin closed applications on January 15, 2026 and supporting documents on February 1. Confirm the next intake's dates and portal instructions; finishing AMP does not itself admit a student to the Master of Architecture.
