Manitoba Environmental Design Indigenous applicant autobiographical sketch
Manitoba's Canadian Indigenous applicant category for the Bachelor of Environmental Design asks for an autobiographical sketch as part of a holistic review. The sketch covers life history, work experience, community service, and academic intent. General-category applicants are ranked academically and do not have this writing requirement.

Up to five double-spaced pages, a creative portfolio, and three confidential evaluations
What to prepare
- 1Choose experiences that explain your path to design, including community work or responsibilities that shaped what you want to study.
- 2Describe your academic intent through the kinds of spaces, projects, or questions you hope to explore in Environmental Design.
- 3Give the committee context that grades and portfolio images alone cannot convey while keeping the account in your own voice.
How to approach the writing
- Organize the five-page maximum around the published topics rather than treating the sketch as a general résumé.
- Keep portfolio explanations brief and credit collaborators; the separate portfolio should show creative work rather than repeat the sketch.
Before you submit
The published 2026–27 bulletin set April 1, 2026 for the application and June 1 for category documents, both now past. Check Manitoba's next bulletin and applicant portal for new dates and requirements. This route applies only to applicants who declare the Canadian Indigenous category and meet its eligibility rules.
