About this scholarship

First-generation college students (neither parent nor legal guardian has earned a four-year college degree) who are current residents of Metro Atlanta (Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, or Gwinnett County), U.S. citizens or permanent residents, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and demonstrated financial need. Open to graduating high school seniors and currently enrolled undergraduates at an accredited college or university.

Award amount and number of recipients vary each year based on the applicant pool and available funds. Funds are paid directly to the recipient's school for tuition, fees, books, and required course materials.

When the annual application window opens, submit the completed application form, a 500-750 word personal essay on what being a first-generation college student means to you, an official transcript, one letter of recommendation, and proof of enrollment or acceptance.

Established in 2025 by Sanabria Law, PLLC. Founding partner Shayne Sanabria created the award to support first-generation Metro Atlanta students.
