About this scholarship
First-, second-, or third-year (night students only) law students from historically marginalized groups who are enrolled in a New York law school or are New York residents at a U.S. law school may apply. Applicants must be NYSBA and Environmental & Energy Law Section members (free for law students) and not graduate before December 2026.
The fellowship provides a $10,000 summer stipend for at least eight weeks working on environmental or energy legal matters at a New York governmental agency or public interest organization.
Applications are submitted via downloadable PDF form by February 20 annually. The program has awarded fellows since the 1990s to increase diversity in environmental and energy law.
NYSBA's Environmental & Energy Law Section administers this fellowship to encourage underrepresented students to enter the field.
