About this scholarship

The NSPE Education Foundation awards this $5,000 scholarship annually to a high school senior from an ethnic group underrepresented in engineering: African American, Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander. The award recognizes students entering the engineering profession's pipeline.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens who have been accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year college or university. Applications are evaluated on GPA, internship or co-op experience, community involvement, honors and awards, two faculty recommendation letters, and answers to four short essay questions. A complete high school transcript and a resume are also required.

The application opens in early February and closed April 1 in the 2026 cycle; the program runs annually, subject to NSPE Education Foundation funds being available.
