About this scholarship
The Latin American Educational Foundation, founded in 1949, awards scholarships to Colorado residents pursuing postsecondary education at the undergraduate level, including trades, certifications, and two-year and four-year programs. In 2025 LAEF awarded 144 scholarships totaling $401,000, with individual awards typically $2,000 to $3,000; funds may cover tuition, fees, books, supplies, and room and board.
Applicants must be Colorado residents who self-identify as Latino or are committed to serving Colorado's Latino community, have a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher, and be high school seniors or students pursuing an undergraduate degree. The scholarship is open to all learners, including returning and adult students, regardless of documentation or citizenship status.
The application requires at least one recommendation letter and responses on community impact, overcoming challenges, aspirations, and leadership. Applications open in mid-January and close March 15 each year.
