About this scholarship

The José Martí Scholarship Challenge Grant is a need-based merit award from the State of Florida providing $2,000 per year ($1,000 per semester) to students of Hispanic origin attending Florida public or eligible private institutions.

Applicants must be Hispanic-American, defined as a person of Spanish culture born in, or with a natural parent born in, Mexico or a Hispanic country of the Caribbean, Central America, or South America (Brazilian, Spanish, and Haitian origins are not eligible); be a Florida resident and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen; earn a 3.0 unweighted GPA; enroll full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student; and demonstrate financial need via the FAFSA. Undergraduates must apply during their senior year of high school.

Students apply by submitting the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) by April 1; recipients are ranked by need, GPA, and submission date.
