About this scholarship
The Audre Lorde Scholarship Fund, administered by ZAMI NOBLA, awards scholarships of $3,000 or more to out Black lesbians age 50 or older who are making significant contributions to their communities and continuing their education.
Applicants must be an out Black lesbian (out is defined as acknowledgment of lesbian identity to self, family, friends, and community), be 50 years of age or older, and be enrolled in an accredited technical, undergraduate, or graduate program anywhere in the United States.
The program relaunched in 2013 from the original ZAMI scholarship fund that awarded over $200,000 between 1995 and 2008. Applications are due July 15 each year, awardees are notified by August 1, and recipients are honored at a scholarship celebration in Atlanta in September. Recipients may reapply in later years.
