Does NYU Require the CSS Profile?

NYU requires the CSS Profile from first-year students applying for NYU scholarship aid and uses CSS code 2785. The FAFSA does not replace it for institutional aid.

CSS Profile

Required

All first-year applicants seeking NYU scholarship aid submit the CSS Profile, regardless of citizenship. Eligible U.S. applicants should also submit the FAFSA. NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai publish separate campus instructions.

Published financial aid deadlines

Early Decision INovember 15
Early Decision IIJanuary 15
Regular DecisionFebruary 20

These are the school's currently published 2026–27 dates. A late or updated application cycle can use different dates, so confirm the deadline shown in your applicant portal.

Which parent files?

When parents are separated, divorced, or unmarried and living apart, each parent submits a separate CSS Profile. NYU may waive the noncustodial-parent filing when information cannot be obtained; early decision families receive five extra days for that filing or waiver request.

Documents and next steps

Submit the CSS Profile by the deadline and use NYU code 2785. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible noncitizens should also file the FAFSA using federal code 002785, then watch NYU's aid checklist for any follow-up items.
