NYU supplemental essay
NYU's current optional supplement asks applicants to reflect on bridge building: connecting people, groups, or ideas across different perspectives. Its admissions office offers three ways into the question: an encounter with a different view, collaboration across perspectives, or someone whose approach to helping others work together you admire.

What to prepare
- 1Choose one concrete experience or person from NYU's alternatives; you do not need to answer all three suggestions.
- 2Show how someone listened, challenged an assumption, or helped a group work together, then explain what you learned.
- 3If you describe another person's bridge building, keep your own observation and takeaway central to the answer.
How to approach the writing
- A small encounter can work if you can explain the change in perspective; avoid a broad claim about uniting everyone.
- Use the 250 words for a scene and reflection rather than restating the application activities list.
