Writing format
Academic short answer, three short takes, and one 400-word essay
What to prepare
- 1Select up to three academic areas, then explain an idea connected to them in 200 words or fewer.
- 2Answer three brief short takes in no more than 200 characters each; one asks what you would teach, write, or create.
- 3Choose one 400-word essay about a meaningful disagreement, a community, or an element of personal experience.
How to approach the writing
- Use the academic answer to show a question you keep pursuing, not a catalogue of Yale departments.
- Let the short takes sound like three different glimpses of you. The longer essay has room for a scene and reflection.
