Leadership Scholarships

First-year Boston University applicants from the U.S. and abroad with exceptionally strong academic records may be considered. Recipients typically rank in the top 5% of their high school class and show significant extracurricular leadership. The Presidential Scholarship is a renewable merit award of $25,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate study. No separate scholarship application is required. Submit your admission application and supporting credentials by December 1 for consideration. Renewal requires satisfactory academic progress, including a minimum 3.20 GPA.

High school seniors planning to study computer science or engineering full time at a U.S. college may apply for the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship. Recipients receive up to $10,000 per year for up to four years based on unmet financial need, plus a paid Amazon internship after freshman year. Selection weighs academics, leadership, activities, and financial need. Up to 200 students may be selected. Applicants must demonstrate authorization to work in the U.S. and submit the online application with academic records and financial need documentation by the posted deadline.

High school seniors or graduates and current postsecondary undergraduates who are U.S. or Canadian citizens planning full-time study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school in construction, industrial, motor/power, mechanics, or technology fields may apply for the DEWALT Trades Scholarship. Up to 40 one-time awards of up to $5,000 each are paid directly to the recipient's school. Selection considers a trade essay, leadership, work experience, career goals, academic record, and personal circumstances. Applications open November 4 and close February 28. Stanley Black & Decker established the scholarship to support students pursuing trade degrees aligned with its industry goals.

Graduating high school seniors or current full-time Cleveland State University undergraduate degree-seeking students in good academic standing with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA may apply for the Balanced Man Scholarship at Cleveland State University. Awards total $3,000 across recipients; the number of scholarships varies each year. Applicants should demonstrate academic excellence, leadership skills, and commitment to health and well-being.

Male students of African or African-American descent who are high school seniors or continuing college students, reside in Queens or Nassau County, New York, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate community service and leadership may apply. One $1,000 award is paid at $500 per semester for one year. Submit the application package with a 500-word minimum essay, two recommendation letters, transcripts, and a college acceptance letter. Gamma Rho Sigma Chapter administers the scholarship to support undergraduate study in any major.

IU Bloomington undergraduate students who are graduating seniors from Lawrence North High School with outstanding leadership and volunteer activities may be considered for the Christopher A. Bowden Memorial Scholarship. Preference goes to students with demonstrated financial need. Awards are at least $1,000. Complete the IU Bloomington General Application by July 1. The scholarship was established in memory of Christopher A. Bowden, a Lawrence North High School graduate, to support graduates of that school pursuing higher education.

Graduating high school seniors in the metropolitan Atlanta or Houston areas who plan to attend a partner Historically Black College or University may apply through the 5 Strong Scholarship Foundation. You need at least a 3.0 GPA, a minimum ACT score of 19 or combined SAT score of 990, and demonstrated leadership in school and on campus. Selected scholars receive full-tuition scholarships at participating HBCUs, are placed in cohorts of five, and receive mentorship from enrollment through graduation. Up to 20 scholarships are available. Submit the 5 Strong application and, if accepted, commit to mandatory bimonthly College Ready Prep Sessions through graduation. The program seeks engaged students committed to the community, not funding alone.

Incoming first-year students pursuing a business degree at the University of St. Thomas may apply for the GHR Fellows Scholarship Program, a competitive cohort experience for ten students. Fellows receive a four-year full-tuition scholarship, with possible room and board grants based on demonstrated financial need. The program also includes a fully funded J-Term study abroad, career coaching, service-learning opportunities, and access to business and community leaders. Applicants apply to St. Thomas and submit the GHR Fellows application in the admissions portal by January 8. Finalists attend Scholarship Day in February. A minimum 3.7 GPA and demonstrated leadership are expected.

Indiana resident high school seniors applying for admission to any of the seven Indiana University campuses may be nominated for the Adam W. Herbert Presidential Scholars Program, with preference given to National Merit Scholars with leadership experience. Scholarship amounts vary by campus and are renewable for four years. A minimum of 30 incoming freshmen are selected annually. Submit your IU admissions application by November 1. Your campus will nominate candidates based on your application. No separate scholarship application is required. The program is funded by the Lilly Endowment.

Graduating high school seniors and continuing education students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and community service may apply for support toward accredited U.S. two- or four-year college, vocational, or trade school expenses. Award amounts vary. Scholarships are offered twice per year and may be reapplied for. Submit the online application with your most recent transcript, two letters of recommendation, a college acceptance letter, and a 400 to 500 word essay or a 3 to 4 minute video based on a provided prompt. High school seniors need a minimum 3.5 GPA.
