About this scholarship

The PA Student Teacher Support Program, administered by PHEAA for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, provides $10,000 stipends to student teachers, with $15,000 available for placements in schools with high need or high classroom vacancy rates. Stipends are awarded first-come, first-served based on when a complete application is received.

Applicants must be enrolled in a Pennsylvania Department of Education-approved educator preparation program, hold a minimum 3.0 GPA, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, obtain the clearances required for school employment, be placed in an unpaid student teaching position at an approved Pennsylvania location, and agree to teach in Pennsylvania for at least three years after certification.

Applications for the 2026-27 cycle opened April 16, 2026 through the PHEAA portal and are due September 15, 2026. Demand has exceeded funding every year, so applying early matters.
