About this scholarship

Professional visual, literary, performing, and traditional artists who are Alaska residents at least 18 may apply for short-term career opportunity funding. Full-time students during the grant period are ineligible, and you cannot receive a grant in consecutive state fiscal years.

Awards typically range from $300 to $1,000 and cover up to half of cash expenses for time-sensitive professional development such as travel to exhibitions, advanced study with a mentor, freight, materials tied to a confirmed opportunity, or related costs. Tuition, workshop fees, meals, and lodging are not funded.

Apply online through ASCA SmartSimple by quarterly deadlines on June 1, September 1, December 1, and March 1. Funded activity must occur between the first of the month after the award and June 30 of the state fiscal year.

The Alaska State Council on the Arts administers this standing quarterly grant for individual artists and arts administrators.
