Industrial Engineering Scholarships

Doctoral students enrolled in good standing at an accredited U.S. or international university may apply for the NIH Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) to conduct dissertation research in the NIH Intramural Research Program while remaining enrolled at their degree-granting institution. Eligible degrees include PhD, DPhil, PharmD, DrPH, PsyD, MD/PhD, and DVM/PhD. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible international students (including J-1 pathways) may participate through individual or institutional partnerships. While at NIH, GPP students are paid on the NIH predoctoral IRTA stipend table based on research experience after the bachelor's degree. Annual stipends range from $46,100 for a first-year predoctoral fellow with up to one year of experience to $59,300 in later years. NIH also provides health insurance supplements, a $1,500 relocation benefit for new fellows, and professional development, advising, and well-being resources. There is no fixed application deadline; students arrive year round once they secure an NIH principal investigator willing to host their dissertation research and obtain permission from their university graduate program. Individual partnership applicants contact PIs directly and apply through the NIH Application Center. Institutional partnership students apply through specific university partner programs. GPP lets doctoral students combine university coursework with mentored intramural research at NIH institutes and centers across multiple campuses.

High school seniors and undergraduate women and non-binary students pursuing STEM degrees at U.S. colleges may apply for the Cards Against Humanity Science Ambassador Scholarship. Five winners each receive a $20,000 tuition stipend. Film a three-minute public YouTube mini-lecture explaining a STEM topic you are passionate about. The video must be scientifically accurate with cited sources, creative, and not a personal statement. An advisory board of women and non-binary STEM professionals reviews submissions and selects finalists.

The Presto Engineering Scholarship supports UW-Platteville mechanical, industrial, and electrical engineering students with $13,200 each year. Established in 2012 through the Presto Foundation, the award has benefited dozens of engineering majors and is renewable when recipients meet academic criteria. Students apply through the UW-Platteville general scholarship application after admission. The Presto Foundation, the charitable arm of National Presto Industries, renews funding to promote engineering education and technological progress benefiting communities.

Sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduates, plus seniors planning first-year graduate study, may apply if enrolled full time in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, data science, environmental science, or industrial safety at an accredited North American university. Applicants must be USMCA citizens (USA, Canada, or Mexico) with at least a 2.5 GPA. Up to 50 students receive a $7,500 one-year scholarship after completing a paid summer steel-industry internship. The top-scoring applicant earns the $12,000 Premier Intern Scholarship. AIST assists with internship placement if needed. Applications for 2027-2028 are accepted August 1 through October 5, 2026. Required materials include resume, two-page essay, recommendation letters, and transcript. Recipients are announced in mid-December. The AIST Foundation funds these awards to develop future leaders for the iron and steel industry through combined internship and scholarship support.

Students worldwide pursuing bachelor's or technical/vocational degrees in science, technology, engineering, arts/architecture, or mathematics (STEAM) who demonstrate leadership and community impact may apply. Scholarships range from $1,500 to $10,000 based on articulated need, with awards up to $10,000 available. Stantec distributes $200,000 in scholarships annually and offers up to 10 paid internships. Complete the online application with documentation highlighting leadership, resilience, and impact in your field or community. Indicate internship interest if applicable.

Undergraduate juniors or above, or graduate students in accredited U.S. architecture, interior design, urban planning, landscape architecture, or engineering programs with a 3.0+ GPA who demonstrate commitment to inclusion in the AEC industry may apply. Five recipients each receive a one-time $6,000 tuition award plus a required paid summer internship at SmithGroup. Submit a cover letter, resume, and portfolio link (required for design majors). SmithGroup created the program to advance diversity and inclusion in design professions.

Active SHPE members who are graduating high school seniors or current students enrolled full-time at accredited U.S. colleges may apply. Eligible majors include aerospace, computer, electrical, industrial, materials, and mechanical engineering, as well as computer science. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required. Class standings listed on the SHPE portal include undergraduate through graduate levels. The Ansys Scholarship is a STEM award for SHPE members. Check the current SHPE listing for the exact award amount when applying.

High school seniors entering college or vocational school, currently enrolled students, or employees of a USCTI member company pursuing education in cutting-tool or manufacturing-related technical, industrial, or engineering fields may apply. Candidates must be nominated by a USCTI member company. One $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually based on academics, essay, and member referral. Submit an application with academic records, written essay, and member referral by March 1. Recipients must remain enrolled with passing grades or funds may be reclaimed.

Undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, or juniors enrolled full-time at eligible Shell partner universities in specified engineering or geoscience majors may apply. Applicants need a minimum 3.2 GPA. Co-op or part-time enrollment disqualifies applicants. Selected recipients receive $5,000 for one year, renewable up to four years at Shell's discretion.

High school seniors who are children, stepchildren, adopted children, or court-appointed custodial children of active Iron Workers members with five or more years of continuous service (or deceased members in good standing) may apply. Applicants must pursue a full-time degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, labor-management relations, or a construction-related field at an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university. Scholarships of $5,000 are awarded competitively and renewable for three additional years based on academic record, conduct, and continued member-parent standing. Apply electronically through the Iron Workers scholarship portal. Deadline is May 30 annually. After student submission, a secondary school report, transcript, letter of recommendation, and SAT/ACT scores (U.S. students when applicable) are required. The Eric S. Waterman Scholarship Foundation supports ironworker families pursuing construction-related higher education through the International Association of Iron Workers.
