Life Happens Life Lessons Scholarship
Up to $15,000Due Mar 1, 2027U.S. or Puerto Rico residents ages 17 to 24 who lost a parent or legal guardian and plan to attend college, university, or trade school may apply for the Life Happens Life Lessons Scholarship. Award amounts vary, including tiered prizes with a $15,000 grand prize. Submit a 500-word essay or three-minute video on how the death affected you financially and emotionally, including your college plans and any impact of life insurance. Applications are accepted February 1 through March 1. Life Happens provides financial assistance to students facing hardship after the loss of a parent or guardian.

It is one component of the Knight Promise financial aid guarantee alongside academic scholarships and other initiative grants. There is no separate application beyond completing the Calvin admission process. The award renews automatically for up to five years of undergraduate study while you maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Calvin University.

The American Academy of CPR and First Aid sponsors this award to support future educators and healthcare professionals.
Firm Foundation For Life
$1,000Due Apr 15, 2027Woonsocket, Rhode Island residents who are beginning college may apply for scholarships from Firm Foundation Christian Church. Applicants should demonstrate involvement in community, school, and church activities. Three recipients each receive $1,000 annually. Funds are disbursed directly to the recipient's chosen college. Complete the application with personal and academic information, provide one academic reference and one Christian reference (such as a church leader or teacher), and submit a 200-word-or-fewer essay on the provided prompt. The top five candidates are interviewed briefly, and three recipients are selected. Email the completed application by April 15.
