LGBTQ+ Scholarships

Idaho high school seniors with a strong record of advancing human rights may apply for up to three merit-based scholarships of $2,500 each. Preference goes to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC applicants with financial need. Funds may support college, trade school, or a gap year. Prepare an application highlighting your human rights work and submit by May 1. The Eve Devitt Fund recognizes young Idaho leaders working to advance human rights in their communities.

LGBTQIA+ individuals who are actively involved in the LGBTQIA+ community, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and participate in collegiate bowling may apply for the IGBO Presidential Scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited U.S. undergraduate, graduate, or trade-school program. One $1,000 award is given. Funds are distributed directly to the student. Complete the online application, submit a 250 to 300 word essay or a short video (up to two minutes), arrange for a recommendation letter from a mentor, coach, teacher, or team member, and upload an unofficial transcript and bowling league sheets or competition results. IGBO established this scholarship to support younger members of the LGBTQIA+ bowling community.

Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at least half-time in Wayne State University's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts with a minimum 2.0 GPA may apply through ScholarshipUniverse. Award amounts vary. Preference is given to LGBT students, though all CFPCA students who demonstrate positive sensitivity to and involvement in LGBT issues are eligible. The CFPCA LGBT Endowed Scholarship provides financial support to meritorious students engaged with LGBT issues at Wayne State.

Self-identified LGBTQ+ graduating high school seniors who are U.S. citizens or legal immigrants, have at least a 3.0 GPA (weighted allowed), and plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school in the United States or Canada may apply for LEAGUE Foundation scholarships. Award amounts vary across multiple tiers. Proceeds are sent directly to the school, not to the student. Complete the online application (typically open January through April) with two personal essays, at least two non-family recommendation letters, a detailed community-involvement list (LGBTQ+ leadership weighted more heavily), an official transcript, and proof of acceptance. Family members and mentors may help ensure a complete submission. Decisions are usually announced in July.
