Community College Scholarships

Top community college students in the United States who are sophomores by January 1 or recent graduates since spring 2022, plan to transfer full-time to a four-year college, hold at least a 3.5 GPA, and demonstrate financial need may apply for the Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship through the Common App. Awards provide up to $55,000 per year as last-dollar funding toward completing a bachelor's degree. The selection process is rigorous and considers academics, financial need, perseverance, leadership, and community commitment. Recipients also receive college advising, transition support, and access to internship and graduate scholarship opportunities through the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.

Undergraduate students at two-year or four-year U.S. institutions pursuing a nuclear energy-related degree or technical training may apply for scholarships under the U.S. Department of Energy's Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) / University Nuclear Leadership Program. Applicants may apply even if their institution is not yet UNLP-approved; the school must become approved before funds transfer. Trade school and community college scholarships provide $5,000 for nuclear energy-related technician training. Four-year undergraduate scholarships provide $10,000 for nuclear energy-related degrees. Awards support tuition and academic-year expenses. Create an account at proposals.inl.gov and complete the scholarship application for the appropriate track. DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy created NEUP in 2009 to consolidate university support for nuclear energy research, equipment upgrades, and student educational support.

Full-time U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents at accredited four-year colleges, community colleges, portfolio schools, or art schools may apply if they identify as African-American/Black American, Indigenous American, Asian-American/Pacific Islander, or Latino/Hispanic and study art direction, copywriting, production, editing, illustration, or marketing strategy/analytics. Two recipients each receive a $10,000 scholarship plus one year of mentorship from a Saatchi & Saatchi professional, including monthly virtual meetups and email and text access. Complete the Giving Back Fund application and submit a creative pitch as an unlisted YouTube video (three minutes maximum). Optional project samples may be included. Priority goes to students who demonstrate financial need. Recipients are selected by a panel of creatives, strategists, data analysts, and talent managers at Saatchi & Saatchi and partner organizations.

High school graduates in Texas Education Agency Region XIII counties with a minimum 3.0 GPA, community service, leadership, and financial need may apply for Roy F. and Joann Cole Mitte Foundation scholarships. Awards are up to $10,000 per year at a four-year Texas college or up to $5,000 per year at a two-year Texas college, with renewal each year. ACT/SAT minimums and essays are required. High school graduates, community college students, and adult learners with financial need pursuing studies at Washington, D.C.-area community colleges may apply. The last-dollar award provides up to $8,000 per academic year (maximum $16,000 lifetime), renewable up to five years. Apply through ISTS at aim.applyISTS.net/HerbBlock. Fall deadline is June 1; spring deadline is November 10.

High school seniors residing in the 50 states, D.C., or Puerto Rico with at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrated financial need who plan full-time enrollment at an accredited two- or four-year U.S. college may apply. One hundred recipients receive $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years (up to $20,000 total per student). Apply through Scholarship America's online application, including personal and academic information, a written essay on ambition, resilience, and community impact, and documentation of GPA and planned enrollment. The program supports students who strive to be a force for good in their communities and inspire others to pursue higher education.

Students pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism at an accredited U.S. university or community college may apply. U.S. citizenship is not required. Applicants need a 3.0 GPA or higher and a commitment to a broadcast journalism career. Preference goes to students enrolled in community colleges. The National Press Club and NPC Journalism Institute administers the Wes Vernon Broadcast Scholarship, which provides $5,000 per year, renewable for up to three additional years ($20,000 total), to support diversity in broadcast journalism. Complete the application form with transcripts, essays, and letters of recommendation, and submit through the designated platform by the deadline.

U.S. citizens or student-visa holders who are high school graduates or GED recipients with a 3.0 GPA may apply when the Blue Collar Brain scholarship program is open. Applicants must enroll full time in a vocational or technical school or two-year college for a skilled trade such as automotive, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or welding. One $2,500 scholarship is paid directly to the winner's accredited school. Proof of enrollment is required.

Dependent children under age 24 of active Raytheon or RTX employees with at least one year of full-time service may apply through Scholarship America. Each award is $2,000. Students currently enrolled at a U.S. community college, junior college, city college, or similar two-year institution who have completed at least two transfer courses in geography and plan to transfer as a geography major to a four-year college may apply for the Darrel Hess Community College Geography Scholarship from the American Association of Geographers. Up to four $1,500 scholarships are awarded, each with a formal certificate of merit. Funds may be used for any educational expenses. Apply by the fall or spring deadline.
