Scholarships at York University

York University creative writing (CRWR) students with proven talent and commitment may receive the Sorbara Award in Creative Writing. The award is $3,000. Recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons; Ontario residents; and demonstrate financial need. York University students with a major or minor in Gender and Women's Studies who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons; Ontario residents; and demonstrate financial need may qualify. York University undergraduate students majoring in computer science or information technology with a minimum cumulative GPA of 6.00 (B) may apply if they are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons, are residents of Ontario, and demonstrate financial need. Female students enrolled in a science or business-related program at Glendon College, York University, who have completed at least one year of study may apply. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 6.0, demonstrate financial need, and submit a one-page statement on extracurricular or community participation and how they hope to contribute to a science or business field in Canada after graduation. One award of $1,000 is available. The award is funded by the University Women's Club of North York.

Full-time continuing undergraduates in York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies who are participating in one of York's international exchange or study-abroad programs and hold a minimum GPA of 6.00. Preference goes to students from the Madawaska Valley area of Ontario (roughly Renfrew and Hastings Counties and the District of Nipissing). The award is $750. The bursary was established to honour the memory of Janet A. McRae.

Full-time undergraduate students entering or enrolled in York University's Faculty of Education who identify as a single parent or caregiver and demonstrate financial need. One $750 bursary; renewable in subsequent years. Submit a short statement (maximum 250 words) on how the bursary will support their studies. Adjudicated by Student Financial Services.

McLaughlin College students at York University with high academic standing and demonstrated financial need. Recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons who are Ontario residents. One bursary of $500 is available.
