Architecture Scholarships

Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in facility management or closely related programs (including construction management, architecture, engineering, hospitality, business, interior design, environmental studies, or real estate) with a minimum 3.2 GPA in FM coursework may apply for IFMA Foundation academic scholarships. Award amounts vary, with scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $10,000. Thirty awards are available. Each scholarship includes fully subsidized attendance at the IFMA World Workplace Conference, and recipients must participate in IFMA Foundation activities there. Working students and veterans are encouraged to apply. Complete the IFMA Foundation scholarship application with required academic documentation before the deadline.

U.S. citizen college sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled full time in fall who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing degrees in civil, mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, or related engineering fields may apply for IMEG engineering scholarships. Awards are up to $10,000 for underrepresented students with strong potential. Submit two recommendation letters and an unofficial transcript. Applicants must not be employed at IMEG or related to an IMEG employee. IMEG, a 100% employee-owned firm, supports the next generation of engineering innovators.

Undergraduate students of African American descent enrolled in a CIDA-, NASAD-, or NAAB-accredited interior design or architecture program at a U.S. not-for-profit institution may apply for the IIDA Foundation John J. Nelson Sr. Legacy Scholarship. Up to two recipients receive up to $10,000 each plus travel to Chicago for in-person recognition. Submit a 3 to 5 minute video describing how design has impacted your life and how you will use your career to benefit clients and community. John J. Nelson Sr. established this fund with the IIDA Foundation in 2019 to champion diversity and access in design education.

Female U.S. citizens who are juniors, seniors, or graduate students majoring or concentrating in real estate or related fields at an accredited U.S. college may apply for CREW Chicago scholarships. Each award provides $7,500 for the academic year sought. Required materials include an application form, two essays, official transcripts, a resume, and two sealed recommendation letters mailed or emailed to info@crewchicago.org. Since 2014, CREW Chicago has awarded scholarships to support women pursuing careers in commercial real estate.

BIPOC high school seniors or recent graduates from Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana who plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year program in interior design, architecture, or environmental design may apply for the IIDA Rocky Mountain Chapter Elevate Scholarship. Two awards of $7,500 each are given. Funds are paid directly to the recipient's post-secondary institution and may be used for tuition, housing, supplies, or related program expenses. Submit one official high school transcript, one letter of recommendation, and a 500-word essay responding to the required prompt. You may optionally include one to three examples of creative design work.

Full-time undergraduate or graduate students at North American institutions enrolled in design, architecture, or visual merchandising programs may apply for the PAVE Student Visionary Award. One award of $7,500 is given, plus Gala travel and accommodations support. Submit four 11-by-17-inch blind presentation boards as PDFs (no name or school identifiers), a current transcript, and an application through PAVE's Submittable portal. Projects should address human-centered design, sustainability, inclusivity, cultural awareness, or contemporary design themes.

Legal residents of Santa Clara County enrolled full time or part time in an undergraduate or graduate architecture program may apply for the AIA Silicon Valley William R. Hawley Scholarship. Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least two years of college work in the architecture major by the end of the current academic year. Previous recipients may reapply. Up to two awards of up to $5,000 are given annually. Submit a portfolio, personal statement, two recommendations, and proof of enrollment through the AIA Silicon Valley scholarship application. AIA Silicon Valley established this scholarship in 2004 to support the next generation of architects in the region.

Students pursuing postsecondary education in a construction-related field, or surviving children or spouses of construction workers who died in a work-related construction accident, may apply to the Construction Angels Scholarship Fund. Applicants must attend or plan to attend an eligible institution that requires a high school diploma or GED, such as an accredited four-year or two-year college, vocational-technical school, or construction training program. Scholarship amounts vary with fundraising. Funds may cover tuition, textbooks, materials, fees, and room and board. Recipients may reapply in later years if still eligible. About 50 awards are listed as available. Complete the application with required documentation and submit electronically or by mail postmarked by July 3. Construction Angels is a nonprofit that also provides emergency aid and grief counseling to families after construction workplace fatalities.

West Virginia residents pursuing a NAAB-accredited architecture degree who demonstrate strong architectural ability, passion for the profession, and potential for success may apply for AIA West Virginia Foundation for Architecture scholarships. Eligible students include those who have completed six or more semesters in a NAAB-accredited Bachelor of Architecture program, or who are enrolled or accepted in a NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture program. Recipients receive $4,000. The number of awards varies with available funding. Projects demonstrating sustainable principles or environmental technologies may receive special consideration, and awardees are invited to the AIA West Virginia Design Awards Gala Dinner. Submit a completed application and portfolio. Semi-finalists are invited for an interview and portfolio presentation. Since 1986, AIA West Virginia has awarded more than $324,300 to 139 architecture students in the state.

Full-time undergraduate students attending a community college, university, or technical institution in Florida may apply. You must be an incoming freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled in a horticulture program or related field with intent to graduate in that field, and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA. The James H. Davis Memorial Scholarship through the National Horticulture Foundation provides awards ranging up to $3,000 to encourage careers in Florida's horticulture industry. Apply through the National Horticulture Foundation scholarship program by the January 15 deadline.
