About this scholarship
Senior fellows who hold a terminal degree and a distinguished record of accomplishment may apply for Charles E. Peterson research grants through the Athenaeum of Philadelphia. Research may address pre-1860 American architecture and building technology without geographic restriction, though preference is given to Delaware Valley topics.
Grants generally do not exceed $15,000 and may not be used for international travel.
Applications are accepted January 1 through March 1 and are reviewed by a committee of architects, architectural historians, and educators appointed by the Athenaeum board. Submit materials as a single PDF as directed by the Athenaeum.
