About this scholarship

Rising high school seniors in Massachusetts with at least a 2.75 GPA who have been in a quality youth-adult mentoring relationship for one year or more (not with a parent) and plan to attend a four-year accredited college may apply for the ALKU Scholarship.

The award provides $7,500 per academic year for up to four years toward a bachelor's degree.

Submit a 100- to 200-word personal statement, one letter of recommendation from your mentor, and a photograph of you with your mentor through Mass Mentoring Partnership by September 20. If selected, provide a transcript verifying your GPA.

Since 2015, ALKU has partnered with Mass Mentoring Partnership to support students positively impacted by mentoring.

  • Photograph of the applicant with their mentor
  • High school transcript verifying GPA if selected as a finalist
  • One (1) letter of recommendation from the applicant's mentor (describing how the student benefited from the mentoring relationship, their goals/challenges, and why they deserve the scholarship)
  • Upload one (1) photograph of the applicant together with their mentor
  • Minimum average GPA of 2.75 or higher (finalists must provide a high school transcript verifying GPA)
  • Must be a rising high school senior (Class of 2027) enrolled in a Massachusetts high school
  • Must intend to apply to a four-year accredited institution for a bachelor's degree beginning Fall 2027
  • Must be engaged in a quality mentoring relationship of at least one year with an adult who is not a parent/legal guardian
  • Application submitted online via Google Form by 11:59 PM Sept 20, 2026
