Visual & Performing Arts Scholarships

The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation's Gifted Tuition Scholarships support exceptionally talented music students with a passion for Latin music who have financial limitations. Applicants must be 17-25 years old and admitted to start or continue a four-year bachelor's degree in music at the accredited institution of their choice in the fall. Three Gifted Tuition Scholarships of up to $120,000 each are awarded, covering tuition and housing over four years of full-time study, plus wrap-around services from the foundation. Recipients must maintain strong academic standing each semester. Apply online with two audition videos, two letters of recommendation, two essays, and a university acceptance letter; materials may be in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Applications open in December and closed April 10 for the 2026 cycle.

The F. William Sunderman Scholarship is the highest talent award from Gettysburg College's Sunderman Conservatory for top musicians pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music Education, or Bachelor of Arts in Music. All conservatory scholarships require a faculty audition and a complete financial aid application for prospective students. The Sunderman Scholarship carries an award of fifty-two thousand dollars per year and renews annually based on satisfactory advancement in the music degree program, progress in private study, and a satisfactory grade point average. Applicants must submit the Common Application, Music Profile Form, music theory assessment, and complete an in-person or recorded audition with a faculty interview as part of the conservatory admissions process.

Emerging and established writers who publish on contemporary visual art may apply for the Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. Projects may address general or specialized art audiences, including interdisciplinary criticism and experimental literary styles, as long as eligibility and publishing requirements in the annual guide are met. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or O-1 visa holders per that guide. Grants range from $15,000 to $50,000 across article, book, and short-form writing categories (and related supported project types stated in the annual call). Apply during the open period each year. Selection uses a two-tier process with evaluators and panelists experienced in contemporary arts writing. Launched in 2006, the program has supported hundreds of writers with direct funding for art writing.

San Francisco-based individual artists at least 18 who have lived in the City and County of San Francisco for at least two years may apply to the Arts Impact Endowment (AIE). Full-time students are ineligible. The standalone San Francisco Artist Grants category merged into AIE for FY25-26. Individual artists may receive up to $50,000 over a 25-month grant term across three funding channels (ongoing work, growth and planning, or new project support). Funded work must take place in San Francisco with public benefit. The FY25-26 AIE deadline was November 13, 2025 at noon. SFAC notes FY26-27 categories are not yet posted; AIE remains the active individual-artist vehicle. San Francisco Arts Commission administers the program under its Community Investments grants portfolio.

U.S. pre-doctoral art history candidates who will be all-but-dissertation when the fellowship begins and whose dissertation research focuses on European art from antiquity to the early 19th century may be nominated by their department for Kress History of Art Institutional Fellowships at European research centers. Departments may nominate a maximum of two candidates for different research centers. Six two-year fellowships are awarded at $45,000 per year. Applications are accepted in November for fellowships beginning the following academic year.

The Parker B. Wagnild Scholarship is a Sunderman Conservatory talent award for students pursuing a music major or music minor, and occasionally for highly talented non-majors at Gettysburg College. Recipients are selected through a conservatory faculty audition and must submit a complete financial aid application as prospective students. The scholarship provides forty-four thousand dollars per year and renews while the student demonstrates satisfactory advancement in their music degree program or minor, progress in private study, continued participation in faculty-assigned conservatory ensembles, and a satisfactory GPA. Applicants complete the Common Application, Music Profile Form, theory assessment, and an in-person or video audition with faculty interview following Sunderman Conservatory audition guidelines.

The Mike and Mary James Scholarship provides $40,000 over four years to one Distinguished Scholarship Invitational participant who declares a major in Wichita State's College of Fine Arts or Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. High school seniors compete at the on-campus DSI event after meeting admission and competition deadlines in November. Eligible competitors must have a minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA, ACT 27, SAT 1260, or rank in the top 10 percent of their junior class. Recipients are notified in February. The scholarship supports incoming freshmen pursuing fine arts or liberal arts and sciences degrees at Wichita State University.

Operalia, founded by Placido Domingo, is the world's leading opera competition for young singers and is open to all voice types, ages 20-32, of any nationality. Roughly 30-40 singers are selected from recorded applications to compete live in quarterfinals, semifinals, and a gala final with full orchestra; the host city changes each year. Applicants apply online with a passport copy, one-page biography and resume, headshot, and video recordings of two opera arias from different operas sung in the original language with live accompaniment. There is no application fee beyond a small portal charge. First Prize is $30,000 for the best female and best male singer, with $20,000 second prizes, $10,000 third prizes, and additional zarzuela, Birgit Nilsson, and audience prizes. The 2026 application deadline was May 12, 2026.

Individual Black artists age 18 and older with a primary residence in Allegheny, Beaver, or Westmoreland County for at least 18 months may apply. Applicants need a documented history of at least two years producing or presenting Black art advancing the African diaspora. Emerging, mid-career, and established professional artists are eligible. Project Support grants provide up to $50,000 over two years ($25,000 per year) for projects aligned with advancing Black arts in the Pittsburgh region. Applications were due June 24, 2026 by 5 p.m. through The Pittsburgh Foundation's online portal. Pre-application assistance was available through No Box Engagements in May and June. Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh is managed by The Pittsburgh Foundation with support from The Heinz Endowments, continuing a regional initiative dating to 1988.

Florida resident artists age 18 or older who are not enrolled in a degree or certificate program may apply for project grants up to $25,000. Projects must create or present original artistic work with a public component that benefits Florida communities. Individual Artist Project grants require a 1:1 cash match (up to 25% may be in-kind). This program replaced the legacy Individual Artist Fellowship. Awards are funded from the top down by score until appropriated funds are exhausted. FY 2027-2028 applications were open with a deadline of July 10, 2026 at 5 p.m. ET for a July 2027 through June 2028 grant period. The Florida Division of Arts and Culture administers Specific Cultural Project grants as part of the state's arts funding portfolio.
