Scholarships at University of North Dakota

The Carly Christenson UND Nursing Scholarship was established in 2013 by Sean and Saundra Christenson and friends to honor their daughter Carly, who planned to study nursing at UND before passing away at age fourteen. Allocations support nursing students in the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. Students admitted to the UND nursing program apply annually through Scholarship Central between October 1 and March 1 and are automatically considered when they meet donor criteria. Recipients are selected from the pool of qualified nursing applicants each year.

The Paul and Lillian Larson Nursing Endowment Scholarship at the University of North Dakota awards an annual scholarship to a nursing student admitted to the UND nursing program who maintains at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Eligible candidates must be from Walsh County, North Dakota, or other counties specified by the donor, and demonstrate high moral character with strong potential for a successful nursing career. The UND Financial Aid Office automatically considers qualified nursing applicants who meet the residency and academic criteria.

Judge A.C. Bakken established the Shirley A. Bakken Scholarship in memory of his wife to reflect their North Dakota family farm origins and support for UND Law School. The award goes annually to a law student who lived and worked on a family farm in North Dakota from childhood through age eighteen. The scholarship honors Shirley Bakken's devoted support during her husband's legal education and judicial career. Recipients are selected by the School of Law from applicants in the UND law scholarship databank who meet the rural farm upbringing criterion.

Mark and Mary Andrews established this University of North Dakota School of Law scholarship to invest in North Dakota students pursuing legal education and to honor the education their daughters received at UND. Awards go to law students who demonstrate a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and strength of character that, combined with legal training, indicate potential for career success and meaningful lives. North Dakota residency is required. Recipients are chosen from applicants in the UND law scholarship databank during the annual Scholarship Central cycle open from October 1 through March 1.
