Scholarships at Florida State University

The Ramon L. Ruiz, D.M.D., M.D. Endowed Scholarship supports College of Arts and Sciences students planning postgraduate medical or dental education. At least one $5,000 award is made each spring for use during the upcoming academic year. Junior or senior undergraduates and graduate students in Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Psychology may apply through FS4U. Applicants need a 3.5 GPA or higher, a 500-to-1000-word essay on medical or dental education plans, and one letter of recommendation from an FSU faculty member or mentor.

The Florida State Service Scholar program recognizes incoming first-year students with an outstanding record of community service and leadership. Admission is competitive and open to international and out-of-state students as well as Florida residents. Scholars complete at least 75 service hours per semester while maintaining a 2.75 GPA, attend monthly meetings, participate in coursework, and engage in peer mentorship over four years. The program includes an annual $4,500 scholarship automatically renewed each year when program requirements are met. Applications for each fall cohort are submitted through the Service Scholars application cycle.

The Alumni Ambassadors Award recognizes Florida State University students with demonstrated commitment, vision, and potential for lifelong leadership and innovation in their communities and the world. The Ambassadors Award Committee selects recipients through a competitive application reviewed alongside leadership and service accomplishments. Applications for the 2026 cycle open February 9 and close April 17 and must be submitted through the FS4U scholarship portal. Award amounts vary by year depending on available funding. Recipients are expected to represent the FSU Alumni Association as campus ambassadors.

The Corey D. Dahlem Memorial Endowed Scholarship honors Gainesville Police Department Lieutenant Corey D. Dahlem, who was killed in the line of duty in April 2007. Junior or senior criminology undergraduates with at least a 2.75 GPA who demonstrate financial need may apply through FS4U during the college scholarship window. Applicants must not have alcohol-related, reckless driving, or DUI convictions. First preference goes to children of current Gainesville Police officers, then to children of other Florida law enforcement officers, then to candidates pursuing law enforcement careers. The two-year award requires maintaining a 2.75 GPA.

The Eugene and Rosalind Czajkoski Scholarship Fund supports students enrolled in the FSU College of Criminology and Criminal Justice who explore First Amendment issues within criminology. Applicants submit a 1500-to-2000-word essay connecting a constitutional free-speech issue, such as relevant case law, to an area of criminological research. Winning essays often link First Amendment topics to existing criminology studies. Students apply through FS4U during the college scholarship window opening March 22 and closing August 28. Award amounts vary with available funding. All criminology majors meeting essay requirements may be considered.
