Mathematics & Statistics Scholarships

High school seniors and undergraduate women and non-binary students pursuing STEM degrees at U.S. colleges may apply for the Cards Against Humanity Science Ambassador Scholarship. Five winners each receive a $20,000 tuition stipend. Film a three-minute public YouTube mini-lecture explaining a STEM topic you are passionate about. The video must be scientifically accurate with cited sources, creative, and not a personal statement. An advisory board of women and non-binary STEM professionals reviews submissions and selects finalists.

New female students accepted to College of Saint Mary who are U.S. citizens with at least a 3.0 GPA and plans to major in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or human biology (non-Pre-PA) while living on campus may apply for the NSF-funded Marie Curie Scholars Program. Up to seven students may receive up to $20,000 per year, renewable up to four years. The program includes academic support, research opportunities, STEM community activities, conference travel, internships, and industry networking. Complete the Marie Curie application, FAFSA, a 500-word STEM essay, and a virtual interview with the program director. The scholarship supports academically talented women in STEM fields.

African American residents of Hampton Roads, Virginia with at least a 3.0 GPA who are committed to pursuing a STEM degree may apply for the African American Leadership Society STEM Scholarship administered by United Way of South Hampton Roads. Eligible applicants include high school seniors, currently enrolled college students, and qualifying veterans entering college. Scholarships are worth up to $10,000 toward tuition. The number of awards varies. Women account for at least 50% of recipients, and 25% of awards are designated for first-generation college students. Complete the online STEM application with required materials. Applicants must plan to enroll as a college student majoring in a STEM field. AALS aims to build a pipeline of Black STEM leaders and reduce racial and gender gaps in STEM fields across South Hampton Roads.

Undergraduate or graduate students with a visible or non-visible disability who are enrolled full time at a four-year university in the U.S. or Canada and major in business, computer science, engineering, math, physics, statistics, or a related field may apply. Applicants should have interest in a financial services career, ideally in capital markets. U.S. recipients receive $10,000. Apply through Lime Connect after joining The Lime Network. Submit contact and education details, a resume, current transcripts, an essay on your career goals and scholarship fit, and one letter of reference from a professor, advisor, or supervisor.

Transfer students with 60 to 90 credits planning to major in biology, biotechnology, computer science, computer information technology and security, data science and AI, chemistry, or mathematics at Elms College may apply for NSF-supported Elms STEM scholarships. Awards are up to $10,000 per year. Five scholarships are available. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with FAFSA-documented financial need and admission to Elms. Pre-med and education-only tracks are not eligible. The ElmSTEMs program, funded by the National Science Foundation, provides scholarships and programming for STEM majors with demonstrated need.

U.S. Lime Connect network members with disabilities enrolled at a four-year university pursuing a healthcare or STEM degree may apply for the Johnson and Johnson Access-Ability Lime Scholarship. Each recipient receives $10,000 toward education expenses. Submit a resume, transcripts, three essays on healthcare career goals and disability inclusion, and one reference through the Lime Connect application portal. Johnson and Johnson partners with Lime Connect to support students with disabilities pursuing healthcare and STEM careers.

Alabama public high school math or science teachers with outstanding federal student loans who graduated from an approved secondary certification program may apply to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education for AMSTEP loan repayment. The base award is $7,500 per year ($3,750 per semester worked), renewable up to four consecutive years. Teachers in shortage districts may receive up to an additional $2,500 per year. The program encourages certification in math or science and placement in Alabama public schools where teacher shortages are most acute. The number of awards varies. AMSTEP is a state loan repayment program created by the Alabama Legislature to address math and science teacher shortages.

College sophomores and juniors who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents with at least a 3.0 GPA and intent to pursue research careers in natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering must apply through their campus Goldwater faculty representative. Each scholar receives up to $7,500 per academic year for one or two years depending on class year. Up to 454 scholarships may be awarded nationally. Nominees submit a research essay, questionnaire, three recommendations, and transcripts. Campus nominations are due the last Friday in January. Direct applications without campus nomination are not considered.

Ohio residents at the University of Akron with at least a 3.0 GPA who are incoming first-year students, transfers, or current students newly entering a qualifying STEM or medicine major may apply for Choose Ohio First STEMM scholarships. Awards provide up to $5,500 per academic year for full-time enrollment in eligible STEMM fields. Applications typically open October 1 and close January 31 for the following academic year. California residents who are incoming college freshmen with at least 50% Filipino heritage and a 3.0 GPA may apply. You must major in engineering, mathematics, computer science, environmental science, or physical science. Healthcare-related majors are ineligible. The award is $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years. The number of recipients varies. Apply through the Asian Pacific Fund with required documents. Dado and Maria Banatao established the fund in 2002 to encourage Filipino American students in STEM fields.
