Scholarships for College Freshmen

First-year Boston University applicants from the U.S. and abroad with exceptionally strong academic records may be considered. Recipients typically rank in the top 5% of their high school class and show significant extracurricular leadership. The Presidential Scholarship is a renewable merit award of $25,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate study. No separate scholarship application is required. First-year students admitted to Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio are considered for merit academic scholarships based on a holistic review of high school or college performance, involvement, essay, recommendations, and test scores. Nonresident first-time freshmen admitted to a degree-seeking program on Colorado State University's Fort Collins campus may receive Green and Gold merit scholarships based on their admission application. No separate scholarship application is required. Awards range from $4,000 to $16,000 per year depending on GPA and are renewable for up to eight semesters. Complete admission applications are due January 15 for fall or summer starts and November 1 for spring starts. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA for renewal. Academically talented first-time, full-time residential freshmen entering a baccalaureate program at Alfred State who attended high school outside New York State may receive up to $10,950 per year through the Scholars Award for out-of-state students. Award value depends on academic strength and funding availability. No separate scholarship application is required. Preference goes to students accepted by March 15. Continued eligibility requires a 2.0 GPA each semester, continuous full-time enrollment, and on-campus residency. Alfred State typically awards one scholarship per student, applying the highest-value award for which you qualify.

Incoming Hope College first-year students with a minimum 3.6 cumulative GPA, or a 3.4 GPA with qualifying ACT, SAT, or CLT scores, are automatically considered for the Alumni Honors Scholarship through the admission application. The award is up to $7,500 per year based on financial need and funding availability. Preference goes to students accepted early in the admissions cycle. Maintain a 2.0 GPA, remain continuously enrolled full-time, and live on the Alfred or Wellsville campus.

Alabama high school seniors and first-time college freshmen who are U.S. citizens, Alabama residents, have at least a 2.75 GPA, demonstrated financial need, and plan to enroll at an eligible Alabama institution may apply. One-time awards of up to $4,000 for four-year programs and $2,000 for two-year programs are granted on a semester basis during the first academic year. Four-year applicants must meet the program's ACT score limit; two-year applicants are exempt from the ACT requirement. Complete the online application with required documents. The Alabama State Treasurer administers CollegeCounts to help make college more affordable for students with financial need.

Jewish women who are members of a CUNY Hillel, enrolled full-time at a CUNY college as freshmen with at least three academic years (six semesters) remaining, hold a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and demonstrate financial need may apply. The cohort receives $4,000 per year during sophomore, junior, and senior years, plus a paid summer internship between sophomore and junior years and access to professional development and mentorship. New freshmen admitted to a degree-seeking program at Colorado Mesa University with a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.20 automatically receive the Academic Achievement merit scholarship of $3,000 per year at admission. International students and students with prior baccalaureate degrees are ineligible. No separate scholarship application is required. Students are considered based on the highest cumulative high school GPA on their transcripts. The scholarship renews for up to 120 credit hours while recipients maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and full-time enrollment of at least 12 credit hours per semester.
